SCANNING GUIDE

COLOR IMAGES
The actual output size of scanned images and raster (pixel-based) graphics should have a minimum resolution of 150 dpi for our printer. Over-scanning produces large files, and slows down production time!

LINE ART
Scan black & white images so that the final output size will have a 600 dpi resolution.

RESIZING
Size scanned images before placing them in your page layout program. This allows you to determine the proper resolution to save your image and saves space.

ROTATING
All pixel-based images should be pre-rotated in Photoshop and not in your page layout program. Output time is greatly increased when the page layout program has to recalculate the rotation of the image.

CROPPING
Cropping your images as close as possible reduces production time and creates a smaller file. If you crop your scans in your page layout program, the cropped data is still retained and it makes your file larger. ^ back to top

COLOR FORMAT
To minimize color shifting, convert your image to CMYK format before you place it in your file. ^ back to top

COLOR CORRECTING
When color is critical, we highly suggest ordering a proof of your file, it is relatively inexpensive, and it gives an accurate depiction of what you can expect from your final output. Relying on your monitor to display colors correctly is not recommended. ^ back to top
